Betty Jean Herrington King, 72, of Terre Haute, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 10, 2025. She was born to Wilma Jean Jacob Herrington and Robert Herrington on July 13, 1952, in Maysville, KY.
She grew up in a little town called Blue Licks, KY with her 2 sisters, Kathy Schweitzer and Trish Herrington, and her 3 brothers, Bobby Herrington (Kathy), Joe Herrington (Vickie), and Ricky Herrington where she attended Nicholas County High School.
Shortly after school, she had Bobby Joe Hunt (Jenny), David Hunt (Karen), and Christopher Swim from previous marriages. In 1980, Betty met Thomas King when she was living and working in Indianapolis. They were married on April 9, 1982, and had Pamala King Ditto (Justin) a year later. For 42 years they have loved each other deeply.
She worked at Hoosier Handpak for many years until she retired in 2010 to enjoy being a full-time grandmother. Two and half years later she started to attend The Bridge Church, where she found her true passion and rededicated her life to the Lord. You could find her every Wednesday and Sunday serving coffee, with a hug and a smile, to all who entered The Bridge. She served her church faithfully and became a bonus mom and grandma to many. Her hugs and sense of humor were unmatched, and her servanthood inspired everyone that met her. She loved fiercely and unconditionally in every area of her life and followed Jesus faithfully.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas King; her siblings: Joe, Bobby, Kathy, and Trish; her children: Bobby Joe, David, Christopher, and Pamala; Her twelve grandkids and twelve great-grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilma Jean and Robert Herrington and her brother, Ricky Herrington.
