Betty Lea Kester

Betty Lea Kester, 97, of Terre Haute passed away Tuesday evening, February 28, 2023.  She was a nutritionist for Westminster Village.  Betty was born September 5, 1925 in Blackhawk, IN to Edgar Liston and Archie Price Liston.  Her husband, James Kermit Kester, preceded her in death in 1978.

Survivors include her two sons, Brian Kester and Kent Kester (Santa), all of Cory, IN;  two grandchildren, Jacob Kester (Miranda) of Clay City, IN and Nadia Kester of Cory;  a sister, Janet Little of Clay City;  and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Liston and James Liston;  and two sisters, Mary Kathryn Klingerman and Joann Thomas.

Betty was a 1943 graduate of Blackhawk High School.  She was a member of Cory United Methodist Church, was an avid sports fan especially of IU Basketball and was known for her sense of humor.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 Noon, Monday, March 6, 2023 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25 ^th Street, with John Nicoson officiating.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Riley, IN.  Visitation is scheduled prior to services from 11:00 AM-12:00 Noon.  If friends should so desire, memorial contributions may be made to VNA/Hospice of the Wabash Valley, 400 8 ^th Avenue, Terre Haute, IN 47804.  Funeral information and tributes may be found at www.callahanandhughes.com .
