Betty Ruth Hunter Heady, 90, of Farmersburg passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015 in Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born March 24, 1925 in Vigo County to Verner A. Hunter and Cecile Van Cleave Hunter. Survivors include her husband Max Heady whom she married April 13, 1946; children, Shirley (Kenneth) Williams and Ed (Judy) Heady; grandchildren, Abby (Brandon) Hollis, Katyann (Danny) DiSalvo, Chad (Kelly) Heady, Amy (Joe) Kelsay; great grandchildren, Kyle Hollis, Amber Hollis, Sarah Hollis, Bryan Hollis, Brittany DiSalvo, Shannon DiSalvo, Zachary DiSalvo, Rachel DiSalvo, Leah DiSalvo, Brandon Hensley, Evan Heady, Emma Heady, Jenna Kelsay, Josie Kelsay, and Jack Kelsay; sister, Jean Lee; brother-in-law, George Harbour; sisters-in-law, Joanne Heady and Wilma Heady; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Kenneth (Oneida) Hunter, Eleanor Mullens (Cecil) Walters (Claude), Lowell (Vernele) Hunter, Loren (Alberta) Hunter, Gerald (Betty) Hunter, George (Diane) Hunter, Jewell Joan Harbour; and great grandson, Ryan Hollis. Betty came from a family where music was the center of the home. She taught herself to play piano at a very young age. She would play piano, her dad the violin and her brothers played various instruments. The sisters all sang. Betty used her gift of music to play in little country churches, at family reunions with her brothers and other family members. She also played for weddings. Betty was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandma, great grandma and friend. She was a quiet, unassuming lady loved by many. Betty was a graduate of Blackhawk High School and attended Pimento United Methodist Church. Special thanks to her nurse Amy at Terre Haute Regional Hospital, all the Doctors, nurses, physical therapists, and staff who so lovingly cared for her at Methodist Hospital Indianapolis fourth floor Adult Trauma and Adult Critical Care Units. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M., Thursday, July 30, 2015 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Pastor Bob Roush and Pastor Tim Voll officiating. Burial will be in Farmersburg Westlawn Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2015.
