Betty Joan Cass, 84, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, February 24, 2019. She was born October 2nd, 1934 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Clarence and Bonnie Stephens House.
Betty graduated from Honey Creek High School in 1953. She married the love of her life, Mickey in 1954 who preceded her in death much too early in 1972. Everything revolved around their two sons, Steve and Dave. Betty, her mom and her two sisters, Linda and Pat, were inseparable and moved to Venice, Florida together in the 1990's. She enjoyed traveling and spent years exploring/cruising with friends and family. She loved playing cards and was always loyal to IU basketball. In Terre Haute, Betty worked for Eastern Express Trucking, Vigo County Schools and was a realtor with Century 21 Thompson Kirchner Realtors. In Florida, she managed the community of Bay Lake Estates and worked in the office for the Christian Science Church. She was also active in the Terre Haute Newcomers Club.
Betty is survived by her sister Linda Rector; her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Mary Cass; daughter-in-law, Karen Cass; 9 grandchildren (Nicci, Heather, Katie, Laura, Julyen, Emmagene, Madeleine, Melanie and Matt) and 11 great grandchildren (Tyler, Cameron, Gage, Elijah, Nico, Sebastian, Jack, Evan, Lucas, Oliver and Isabelle). All of these she loved deeply.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her son, David Cass and sister, Patricia Fleschner.
Please join us in celebrating her life Saturday morning March 2, 2019 at 10 AM at the Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Reverend Larry Mathias officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Friday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
