Bernard (Ben) Michael Burdick, age 79, passed away at Union Hospital on Thursday morning, July 16, 2020. Ben was born on July 31, 1940, in Wyandotte, Michigan to Bernard A. Burdick and Dorothy Lange Burdick. He attended St. Patrick's Grade School and was a 1958 graduate of Paul C. Schulte High School in Terre Haute. Ben had a long and successful business career in the sales of steel buildings beginning at Stran Steel in Terre Haute, Indiana. Ben's career took him to the San Francisco Bay area; LaGrange, Georgia; Houston, Texas; and Jacksonville, Florida.
Surviving are his sons, Benny Burdick, Clinton, IN; Brad Burdick, Clinton, IN; Brent Burdick (Susan) of LaGrange, GA; and Rick Burdick (Jo) of LaGrange, GA; his daughter, Kim Novotney (Chris) of Clinton; a step-daughter, Stephanie Long (Stephan) of Houston, Texas; and 7 grandchildren, Michael Burdick, Brooke Llewellyn, Sara Shannon, Bradley Rayce, Christopher Burdick, Lauren Jones, and Logan Burdick. Also surviving are step grandchildren, Chrislyn Davis & Jordan Novotney, Nicki Rice and Eddie Estes; 12 great grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; his siblings: Linda Lambert (Cliff) of Terre Haute, Rosemary (Randy) Krieble of Indianapolis, John Burdick of Springdale, PA; Peggy (Larry) Clifton of Cincinnati, James (Ellen) Burdick of Terre Haute, Joe Burdick (Leslie) of Terre Haute, and Jane McDaniel of Palm Bay, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, two older siblings who died as infants - Kathleen and Richard; and a sister, Dolores Abel.
Ben is remembered dearly for his love of life, sense of humor, adventure, his many pets and his love and devotion to Notre Dame football.
