Benjamin Guille Cox, 73, of Terre Haute died Monday evening, November 18, 2019. He practiced law with Cox, Zwerner, Gambill and Sullivan Law Firm until his death. Guille was born April 13, 1946 to Benjamin Guille Cox and Mary Florence Davis Cox.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Cynthia Zwerner Cox; three children, Andrew Guille Cox and his wife Kathleen, Sarah Cox Hernandez and her husband Michael, and Abigail Davis Cox; and six grandchildren, Aidan, Alexander and Elise Cox; Ryan Hernandez; and Penelope and Henrietta Durkes.
Guille was a graduate of Wiley High School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard Law School. Active in numerous civic organizations, Guille served on the Board of Directors of Swope Art Museum and Terre Haute Humane Society as well as various others. He was a Lifetime Board Member of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees from 1995-2001. Guille was elected to the Board of Trustees of the Vigo County School Corporation in 2002 and served as its president. He was elected to the Board of First Financial Bank and served as Chairman of First Financial Corporation from 2012-2019.
Guille especially enjoyed spending time with his beloved grandchildren at his lakehouse home. He was an avid automobile racing fan and was proud of his attendance at over 50 runnings of the Indianapolis 500.
Visitation will take place from 3:00-5:00 PM, Sunday, November 24, 2019 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. A private interment is planned at a later date.
