Barbara Joyce Brighton Pettijohn, 83, of Terre Haute passed away Sunday evening, June 7, 2015 at Signature Healthcare of Terre Haute. She was retired from the Vigo County Public Library. Barbara was born January 18, 1932 in Gosport, Indiana to John Brighton and Esther P. Wampler Brighton. Survivors include her loving husband of 64 years, Merle J. Pettijohn; a son, Kerry Pettijohn of Sullivan, IN; a daughter, Sherri Foegley and her husband, Dave, of Fishers, IN; nine grandchildren, PJ Pettijohn and his wife, Esmerelda, Shaine Pettijohn and his wife, Elizabeth, Leslie Hobbs and her husband, Davie, Heather Johnson and her husband, Sam, Kerri Price and her husband, Kevin, Kyle Pettijohn and his wife, Amber, Amanda Foegley, Jordan Foegley and Nathan Foegley; 19 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are two brothers, John Brighton and his wife, Cheryl Achterberg and Jerry Brighton and his wife, Caren; a sister, Betty Barr and her husband, Tim; a daughter-in-law, Colleen Spice; two sisters-in-law, Judy Brighton and Betty J. Brighton; a brother-in-law, Marion Pettijohn and his wife, Freida; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Brighton and Esther P. Wampler Brighton Britton; step-father, William O. Britton; two sons, Larry Pettijohn and Jerry Pettijohn; three brothers, James Brighton, Mike Britton and William J. Brighton; and a sister, June Leap. Joyce was a very active member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church where she participated in Bible Study groups. She loved to play bridge and being with her friends in the "Lunch Bunch". A huge part of Joyce's life was being with her family, especially family vacations, reunions and traveling. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, June 11, 2015 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Reverend Rick Swan officiating. Burial will be in Mt.
