Audrey L. Cox

Audrey L. Cox, 101, of Terre Haute passed away Thursday evening, November 4, 2021.  She was born October 27, 1920 in Carlisle, IN to Richard Eslinger and Mary Meeks Eslinger.  Her husband, Charles Cecil Cox, preceded her in death in 1989.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra K. Cox of Terre Haute;  her son, Jeffrey Cox of Beech Grove, IN;  six grandchildren, Holly Henderson (Alex), Josie George (Robert Parker), Stefanie Svrcek (David), Debbie Griffith (David), Kathie Essex (William) and Owen Davenport (Janet);  and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Cecil Cox, Jr.;  two daughters, Phyllis Davenport and Carolyn Sue George;  two sisters, Alice Shelton and Edith Shake;  two sons-in-law, Owen Davenport and Joseph George;  and a daughter-in-law, Angela Cox.

Audrey was a retired supervisor of Meadows Shopping Center.  She was a volunteer at Catholic Charities of Terre Haute Christmas Store and enjoyed gambling on riverboats.

Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 PM, Monday, November 8, 2021 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25 ^th Street, with Pastor Merrill Weir, Jr. officiating.  Private burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.  Visitation is scheduled prior to services from 2:00-6:00 PM.  If friends should so desire, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities of Terre Haute Christmas Store, 1801 Poplar Street, Terre Haute, IN 47803.  Funeral information and tributes may be found at www.callahanandhughes.com .
