Ashley Randolph (Randy) Mansard and wife Lori Anne (Perdue) Mansard from Port Saint Lucie, Florida were killed in a tragic automobile accident in Polk County, Florida on January 21, 2022. Both were formerly from Terre Haute, Indiana.
Ashley is survived by his son, Grant Mansard (Ashley), daughter, Amanda Mansard Thoeny (Brandon), grandchildren, Madison and Isabelle, and former spouse, Donna (Mansard) Sweat (William), all of Carmel; Ashley was the youngest of four siblings including his sisters Cindy Fields, Alyse Mansard and brother Rocky Mansard (Julie), all of Terre Haute; nieces and nephews Jeremy Sheeder, Lauren Fields Moriarty (Matt), Will Mansard (Leslie), Jessica Sheeder Loomis (Ian), Gretchen Mansard Chesebrough (Mike), Jeanine Sheeder Valdez, and Brooke Mansard Elliott (Mark), and several great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Patricia Mansard and his nephew, Jonathan Fields.
Ashley was born on October 17, 1959 in Terre Haute. He spent his career as a Master Plumber and Pipefitter with Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 157. He attended Schulte High School until its closing and graduated from Terre Haute North in 1978. Ashley was a football player and wrestler in high school and is remembered as a formidable competitor. He possessed a unique inner spirit that projected a positive and uplifting energy. His love of life was contagious. Never a harsh word and a friend to all, he found the good in everyone. He was a perfectionist in whatever the task at hand, traits learned from his upbringing, and as a craftsman.
Ashley was faithful to his Creator, courageous in life and devoted to his family. He beamed with pride in his children and grandchildren. Ashley was a man of character, known for his kindness, generosity and compassion. He was a dear friend to many and fiercely loyal to all those he loved beyond measure. He was a humanitarian, defended the downtrodden and lived Pope Paul VI's words, “If you want peace, work for justice”. He was proud to be a democrat and took an active role in local government. Ashley had many interests including reading, organic gardening and practiced yoga, Tai Chi and meditation. He loved sports and frequently spent his weekends cheering on the Fighting Irish and Chicago Bears. Ashley shared his mother’s passion as an environmentalist and her love for all of God’s creation.
He and Lori had recently moved to Florida to enjoy the coast and sunshine. Together, they spent their time riding horses, taking strolls along the beach, and making plans for where they would travel. They had intentions to purchase a motorhome to explore the country and visit family. Ashley and Lori shared a love for animals and were avid volunteers, most recently for an equine rescue organization. As strong environmentalists, they found creative ways to give back to Mother Earth, whether they were picking up trash on the beach or caring for wildlife. Ashley lived his life holding true to the Christian values instilled in his youth and that provided the foundation on which he lived his life as a member of Saint Joseph University Parish. Along his journey, he faced many trials. With every step, you could count on him to do the right thing, the hard thing. The footprints he left in this world mark a righteous path, and the lives he touched along his way are his legacy. He was fond of Mother Teresa’s quote, “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great Love.”
Farewell to our father, friend and brother. Until we meet again.
