Anna Mary Torrence, 91, of Terre Haute passed away late Monday evening, May 28, 2018. She was a caregiver for most of her life caring for adults and children. Anna was born March 16, 1927 in Linton, IN. to Thomas V. Coakley and Sarah J. McQuade Coakley. Her husband, Robert W. Torrence, preceded her in death in 2009.
Survivors include her daughters, Noreen A. Torrence and Eileen Mann (James); her sons, Dr. James Torrence (Nancy) and John Michael Torrence; two daughters-in-law, Liz Torrence and Jayne Torrence Worland; grandchildren, Amy Torrence, Katie Torrence Andersen (Mike), Christine Gerken (Paul), Katie Torrence, and John Robert Mann; great-grandchildren, Brenna Torrence, Ryan Andersen, Benny Andersen, Tommy Andersen, and Claudia Gerken; and her special, long-time friend, Ina Martin. In addition to her parents and husband, Anna was also preceded in death by four children, Maureen Torrence, Robert W. Torrence, William P. Torrence and Warren T. Torrence; and three brothers, William Coakley, Edward Coakley and Thomas P. Coakley.
Anna was a graduate of St. Patrick High School and was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. She was very proud of her Irish heritage and loved to read, cook, and have her family around her.
Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 2, 2018 in St. Benedict Church, 111 South 9th Street, with Father Fred Pasche, OFM Conv. officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery in Brazil, IN. Visitation is scheduled prior to services on Saturday from 10:00-11:00 AM in the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street.
