ANNA J. GALLEZ JAMES Anna J. Gallez James, 94, of Terre Haute, loving wife, mother and nana passed on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Westminster Village. Survivors include two daughters, Donna Huxel and her husband, Gary, of Terre Haute and Linda Lortz and her husband, Eric, of St. James Plantation, NC; one son, Stephen W. James and his wife, Ann, of Idaho Falls, ID; a brother-in-law, Kenny James of Terre Haute; and three grandchildren, Ryan Lortz of Green Bay, WI, Reid Lortz and his wife, Illana, of Chicago, IL and Tysen Huxel of Indianapolis, IN. Also surviving are three great-grandchildren, Grace Lortz, Alex Lortz and Will Lortz; a nephew, John James and his wife, Connie, of Washington, IN; and was aunt to three loving nieces, Joanna Cundiff and her husband, John, Terre Haute, Susanna James, Seelyville and Earlene James, Nashville, TN; and several great-nieces and great-nephews including Ian Cundiff of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her parents Clara and Abraham Gallez; her husband of 75 years, Mel James; a brother, Francis W. Gallez; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Art James and Catherine James; sister-in-law Helen James; two nephews, Rick James and David James; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law Arthur and Mae James. Anna was graduate of Concannon High School and the Union Hospital School of Nursing and continuing education at Indiana University. She was a registered nurse who served as charge nurse in Intensive Care for St. Anthony's Hospital, Union Hospital and Indiana University Medical Center. While residing in Bloomington, Indiana she was the plant nurse at General Electric. Anna was a member of the Red Hats, Florence Nightingale, Union Hospital Alumni and was a volunteer at Union Hospital for many years. Anna touched the lives and hearts of her patients, friends and family. She will be remembered by her quiet strength, sweetness of countenance and willpower to deal with what she encountered. Anna was a member of Northside United Methodist Church. Anna requested that there be no visitation or services. At a later date a gathering of loved ones will be held to honor and celebrate the lives of Anna and Mel James. Heartfelt gratitude goes to Brenda Goodier, Carol Harrah, Kristen Hamilton, Susan Maroska and Priscilla Martin; Union Hospital 3 East; discharge planner Star; Davis Gardens Health Center; Hospice of the Wabash Valley; Dr. Ramseh Shatoagopam and his nurse Lisa Kaufman; and Tammy Austin with Hands That Serve. Bless you Dr. Daniel Kellar, nurse Brandi, Ginny, and your dedicated staff for the love and care given to Anna and Mel James for many years.
