ALICE LOUISE ANDERSON "ANDY" MAHALEK Alice Louise Anderson "Andy" Mahalek, 88, of Oak Park, IL and formerly of Terre Haute died Thursday, October 10, 2013 at her daughter's home in Riverside, IL. She was born October 24, 1924 in Boone, IA to John Howard Anderson and Elizabeth Cosgrove Anderson. She married Raymond F. Mahalek on December 26, 1948 in Terre Haute. Survivors include her children, John Mahalek, Paul Mahalek, Mary (Phil) Nardulli, Meg Mahalek, Kate (Bill) FitzGerald, and Teresa (Chris) Cullen; her grandchildren, Michael, Sara, Sean, Jim, Emma, Annie, Max and Callie; her sister, Mary Helen Robinson; and nieces and nephews, John, Carol & Nancy Anderson, Scott & Jim Robinson, and Leslie & Mark Levin After living in South Bend, IN, Three Rivers, MI and Newark, OH, the Mahalek family moved to Oak Park, IL in the 1960's where Alice taught in Catholic schools for 20 years. Alice and Ray returned to Terre Haute in 1985 to enjoy their retirement. After Ray's death in 1999, Alice moved back to Oak Park to be near her six children. After suffering a stroke in 2009, Alice remained at home with her children until her death. Her family wrote: "Alice's kind heart and sense of humor were an inspiration to her family. She lived her life with integrity and bravery." Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:00 Noon, Friday, October 18, 2013 in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1807 Poplar Street, with Father Rick Ginther officiating. Alice will be buried next to her husband, Ray, in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled prior to services on Friday from 11:00 AM- 12:00 Noon.
