Albert H. Siebenmorgen, 97, of Terre Haute passed away Tuesday evening, July 31, 2018 at Union Hospital. He was a former co-owner of Terre Haute Carpet Cleaning and Rug Company. Al was born November 1, 1920 in Terre Haute to William Siebenmorgen and Martha Cleland Siebenmorgen. His wife, Jane Harriott Siebenmorgen, preceded him in death on April 6, 2000.
Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Butters (John) of Clay City, IN and Ann Bartley (Colonel) and Joyce Siebenmorgen all of Terre Haute; his sister, Kathleen Miller of Winston Salem, NC: four grandchildren, Leah Butters, Adrianne Olsen (Kevin), Trey Henderson and Allegra Neice (Tim); and two step-grandchildren, Matthew Bartley (Chevonne) and Erin Smith (Tyler). Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren, Brooke Lowe (Donnie), Audrey Olsen, Evelyn Olsen, Zoe Neice, Bodhi Bartley, Harlyn Bartley and Logan Smith; two great-great-grandchildren, Jaryd and Avary Lowe; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Al was also preceded in death by two brothers; and one sister.
Al was a graduate of Wiley High School and was a United States Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II where he was a Tech Sergeant serving in the Pacific Theatre. Al dedicated much of his life to Boy Scouting and after being a scout for 88 ½ years was believed to be the oldest living scout in the State of Indiana and possibly in the United States. Al was a member of the Crossroads of America Council, Boy Scouts of America. During his life of scouting he was honored as the recipient of the Silver Beaver and the Woodbadge. Al loved woodworking and was also a member of VFW Post #972.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Monday, August 6, 2018 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Reverend Tim Voll officiating. Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery with Military Honors provided by VFW Post #972. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, August 5th from 3:00-7:00 PM in the funeral home.
