Adrian Tudorica

November 30, 1940 — September 8, 2018

Adrian Tudorica, 77, of Terre Haute, passed away on September 8, 2018 at the IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on November 30, 1940 in Tulcea, Romania.
He studied at the School of Architecture in Bucharest, Romania, and graduated in 1969. In 1982 he came to the United States, was granted exile status, and subsequently became an American citizen. Although he never returned to Romania, he was keen to play with etymologies to show that his native language and culture descended from Latin and Rome. As an architect Adrian was responsible for the designing, creation, and restoration of numerous buildings, churches, and schools throughout Indiana, which will stand as a durable testament to his talent and time on earth. Among the first structures erected by him in faith and love were the Summer Pavilion for worship at the Holy Dormition Monastery in Rives-Junction, Michigan, and the All Saints Orthodox Christian Church in Bloomington, Indiana.
A truly devout Christian, his life was guided by the word of God. His dedication to the Catholic Church was made visible in the last two decades by his daily attendance at Holy Mass and prayer of the Rosary, years served as an altar server at the Carmelite Monastery, position as Supernumerary in Opus Dei, and early morning hours spent weekly at St. Patrick's Church Adoration Chapel. His faith particularly shines through the tremendous amount of love and care he took of his family, and in his resilience and extraordinary powers of endurance in times of suffering. His unfathomable curiosity, desire to solve problems, and his outstanding cooking, sharp sense of humor, wisdom, and various catch phrases like "water is never good, even in shoes" and "in vino veritas" will be profoundly missed by his family and friends. He was a man of strength and dignity with a sweet, stoic soul and a huge heart.
Adrian was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucia and his son, Radu, and by his father, Vasile and his mother, Ioana.
He is survived by his wife Larysa, his son Jacob, his daughter Joanne, his sister, Olga, and his grandchildren Isabella and Madeline.
The visitation will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2018, from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. at St. Joseph University Parish Catholic Church and a Requiem Mass will be celebrated directly after visitation hours. The burial ceremony will take place following the Mass at Rose Hill Cemetery in Bloomington, Indiana. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street.
