Abe D. Miller, 79, of Terre Haute passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2015 in Union Hospital. He was born May 23, 1935 in Winesburg, OH to Dan N. Miller and Rebecca Keim Miller. He is survived by his wife Shirley Jacobs Miller whom he married January 17, 1959, his children Becky (Bill) Voytko, Byesville, Ohio; Bonnie (Tim) Govert, Terre Haute; Bernice (Troy) Helman, Terre Haute; Brent (Angie) Miller, Terre Haute and Bruce Miller, Byesville, Ohio. He was surrounded by loving grandchildren, Alex Sperellis, Dr. Vanessa (Michael) Falk, Craig Helman, Breann Voytko, Sarah Helman, Rachel Dickison, Nicholas Miller, Ryan Baker, Gabby Govert, Hunter Govert, Abbe Baker, Kai Miller, Taya Miller and Gracie Miller. He is survived by two great grandchildren, Kasper and Wendee Dickison. Abe graduated from Indiana State University in May 2000 at the age of 65. He started his ministry in 1962 in Byesville, Ohio at Stop 9 Church of Christ. He continued his work there until 1983. In September of 1983 he moved to Terre Haute, Indiana to begin his work with the Eastside Church of Christ. He retired from full time ministry work in Dec 2009. After retirement he continued his work by volunteering with the Seniorr Seekers at East Side church of Christ. He volunteered with the chaplain program at Union Hospital and served as the chaplain for Sycamore Manor. Abe was a member of the Exchange Club of Terre Haute. Volunteered with Kids Hope, Bikes for Tykes and served on the Rolling Hills Board of Education in Byesville, OH. Abe participated in the Emmaus Walks and did mission work in Russia, Scotland, India, and Honduras. He served as a Director for summer camps at both Camp Robynhaven in Cambridge, OH and Camp Wabashi in Indiana. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Indiana State Sycamores fan. Abe enjoyed sharing his faith through various speaking engagements around the country. He was instrumental in forming Senior Ministries in Cambridge (Golden 60's) and Terre Haute (Senior Seekers). Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2015 in Eastside Church of Christ, 4025 College Ave., Terre Haute, IN with Pastor Woody Biggs and Elder Tom Woodason officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2015 and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of the Wabash Valley or to the Eastside Church of Christ Sr Seekers program. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street.
