A. Janet Raines

A. Janet Raines passed away Monday evening, April 8, 2024.  She was born in Terre Haute to Loren L. Raines and Alice M. Barcus Raines on September 19, 1931.  Janet was a retired school teacher, having taught at Warren School for 37 years.

Survivors include several cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Janet graduated from Wiley High School in 1949 and earned her B.S. and M.S. degrees from Indiana State Teachers College and Indiana State University as well as a sixth year.

Her love of travel took her to all 50 states, Europe, Canada and Mexico.  Janet was a member of the Vigo County and Indiana State Retired Teacher’s Associations, ISU Alumni Association, Vigo County Historical Society and Memorial United Methodist Church.  She was a former member of Alpha Delta Kappa, Alpha Sigma Alpha and the Woman’s Department Club.

A private graveside service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park.  Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, assisted with arrangements.  If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to Memorial United Methodist Church, 2701 Poplar Street, Terre Haute, IN 47803.
